How to cook Mexican rice using long grain white Basmati rice?

Mexican Basmati rice is an easy dish that can be served with Fish Tacos or Taco soup.

It is an easy dish that can be made by turning white rice into a delicious rice using a few ingredients already present in your kitchen. 

Home made Mexican rice is extremely easy and very yummy. We can add seasonings and spices according to our tastes. 



Butter                                                                  2 tbsp

Onion                                                                   1 small (diced)

Jalapeno                                                               1 (seeded and minced)

White Basmati rice                                             1 cup

Cumin                                                                     ½ tsp

Oregano                                                                 ¼ tsp

Chilli powder                                                         ½ tsp

Chicken broth                                                        1  ¾ cups

Tomato sauce                                                        2/3 cup

Lime and cilantro for garnish                              optional



Take onions, butter, rice, and jalapeno and cook them over medium heat until onion gets tender and rice gets golden. This is to be done for about five minutes. Then add spices and cook for one more minute. Add remaining ingredients and bring them to a boil. Cover with a lid and reduce the heat to a simmer. Cook for fifteen more minutes or until the liquid gets absorbed. After this, turn off the flame and leave the mixture for 5-10 minutes. Your rice is ready to serve.
